Dr. Blank speaks with deep experience and commanding authority on the impact on cells and DNA from electromagnetic fields, and explains why your DNA is especially vulnerable to electromagnetic fields compared to other tissues.
Health-concerned citizens should hear this information and then urge each of your representatives in Congress to view this video as well. It is only when elected officials understand the gravity of the science and the implications for health and the future of the species that steps will be taken to protect public health.
Who is Martin Blank, PhD?
Dr. Blank, past president of the Bioelectromagnetics Society, has an impressive resume backing up his statements on this topic. He has two PhD's, one from Columbia University in Physical Chemistry, and another from Cambridge University in Colloid Science (biology, physics and chemistry).
He's an Associate Professor at Columbia University in the department of physiology and cellular biophysics, and a researcher in bioelectromagnetics. He authored the section on stress proteins for the Bioinitiative Report, and edited the journal Pathophysiology's special issue on the biological effects of electromagnetic fields.
In this talk, Dr. Blank explains the science of EMF—how electromagnetic frequencies impact your cells and DNA. On exposure to electromagnetic fields, he explains, cells respond as if they are in distress. We see this through the cellular stress response. This truly is crucial information, because I'm sure you've heard more than a few people reiterate the now tired, scientifically disproven, and incorrect statement that "non-thermal radiation cannot produce a biological effect."
Dr. Blank lays this and other inaccuracies to rest here with compelling and credible evidence. There are a lot of bona fide scientists speaking about this topic, Dr. Blank says, but many of them are speaking without having the prerequisite expertise within the field. This is important. Being a "scientist" is not enough here.
Physicists in particular are often introduced as 'experts' to defend the status quo of EMF's being completely harmless (unless there is enough power to heat tissue), but as Dr. Blank warns, "the fact of the matter is they have not read the literature."
The Science is Clear: Non-Thermal Radiation DOES Cause Biological Harm
Dr. Blank is adamant when he says that there IS evidence of harm, and that the harm can be significant. He also points out that the science showing harmful effects has been peer-reviewed, published, and that the results have been replicated, evaluated and "judged by scientists capable of judging it." Most importantly, researchers now have a fair understanding of the actual mechanisms causing the damage, which I will summarize below.
The Spectrum of Frequencies that Surround You
When looking at a spectrum chart of frequencies, you'll find that cell phones operate in the middle of the spectrum, in the microwave range, which is a subset of the radiofrequency band. Below microwaves are lower frequency radio frequencies, and at the bottom of the spectrum you have 'extremely low' frequencies known as ELF, which include frequencies from electrical wiring and household appliances, for example.
All of these frequencies are within the non-ionizing radiation range, which means they don't have enough heating effect, or power, to separate electrons from atoms. Above that, you enter the ionizing frequency range, which include ultraviolet (UV) rays, gamma rays and x-rays.
Some of these frequencies exist in nature while others, such as telecommunications frequencies, are man-made and not something our bodies are adapted to, nor expected to ever adapt to. Just one of the many reasons why we need to thoroughly investigate the biological repercussions of broadcasting a range of these frequencies is that technologies keep transmitting more and denser content, such as audio, video, data, etc., which can create significant biological disruption due to modulation of the signals.
Also, higher and higher frequencies are being used, ostensibly because more information can be transmitted at these higher frequencies.
While various high frequencies are biologically disruptive, understand that the very low ELF frequencies can also be similarly harmful, such as electric and magnetic fields. One is not better or worse than the other, necessarily, but it is the cumulative load of these exposures and the chronic duration of the exposures that we need to become cognizant of and protect ourselves against.
And as we'll see below, DNA is reactive across the entire spectrum.
It's quite clear and non-controversial that ionizing radiation causes significant damage to the human body, including cancer, but certain physicists are simply wrong when they claim you cannot get any kind of biological reaction as long as you stay within the non-ionizing range of frequencies.
These physicists are thinking about what they know well—heating effects on matter—but it's clear they need to start spending time with the biologists! And they should certainly not be opining on this subject until they have read the science on the biological effects of EMF at non-thermal exposures.
It's true that there's an insufficient amount of energy to dislodge an electron, "but boy, you can get a lot of biological reactions in the non-ionizing range!" Dr. Blank says. "And they have been published and repeated so we know that you can get biological reactions in the non-ionizing range."
How EMF's Cause Cellular Stress Responses and Biological Damage
DNA, as you probably know, is a molecule that contains genetic information. However, this genetic information does more than simply pass traits down to future generations. In fact, this genetic information is constantly being accessed to maintain optimal functioning within your body, in response to your environment.
As Dr. Blank explains, your DNA "is constantly at work, making proteins required for the business of life."
The ladder-like structures that make up the double helix of your DNA represent the chemicals that tie the two strands together. These structures contain the genetic code, and the sequence of the bases tells you what kind of molecule is required for building protein needed.
Some of these proteins are created in response to stress in what's known as the cellular stress response. You may be familiar with the stress response in your body, in which cortisol and adrenaline is produced, for example. But each and every one of your cells has a similar defense mechanism against stress as well.
According to Dr. Blank, there are about 20 different stress proteins in nature, called heat shock proteins (HSP), which are used by your cells to counteract harmful stimulus. Whenever a cell is exposed to an unfriendly environment, the DNA separates in certain regions and begins to read the genetic code to produce these stress proteins (HSP).
Therefore, the presence of stress proteins is an indication that the cell has come into contact with something that is detrimental to its wellbeing. Essentially, it's your cells' way of saying, "I've encountered something bad." And, Dr. Blank emphatically claims, "There's no question cells react to EMF's as harmful." Research has clearly shown that radiation within the non-ionizing range can cause single- and/or double-DNA-strand breaks, which cells respond to by creating stress proteins.
Interestingly, researchers have discovered that your cells do not only react to frequencies in the microwave range, but across the ENTIRE SPECTRUM of frequencies, from low ELF's and up!
Your DNA Acts as a Fractal Antenna
Dr. Blank compares your DNA to what electrical engineers refer to as a 'fractal antenna.' A fractal antenna is an antenna that can pick up a range of frequencies across the EMF spectrum. Two additional features of your DNA that fulfill the requirements of a fractal antenna are that electrons in DNA conduct electricity, and the fact that the DNA is coiled within the nucleus.
In the video above, Dr. Blank shows a slide listing the diameter sizes of the coils within the DNA molecule:
* Double helix = 1 nm
* Chromatin fiber = 10 nm
* Solenoid = 30 nm
* Hollow tube = 200 nm
Each of these different coil sizes respond to a frequency on the EMF spectrum, which explains why your DNA responds to such a wide range of frequencies.
In a nutshell, the human body is constructed with a fractal antenna inside each and every cell, which responds to the entire range of frequencies on the EMF spectrum!
What this means is that it would be foolish to focus on just one frequency, because we are bombarded with ALL of these frequencies, from low ELF's to microwaves, to ionizing radiation. "And you never know which frequency will do the most damage," Dr. Blank warns.
DNA Responsible for EMF Response has Been Identified
In the video above, Dr. Blank explains that they have now identified the DNA that controls the response to electromagnetic fields.
They did this by taking the piece of the DNA molecule responsible for stimulating one specific stress protein (out of the 20 stress proteins produced). This particular stress protein is called HSP70.
The long line you see in the screenshot below from Dr. Blank's presentation at the Commonwealth Club is a symbolic representation of the different parts of the DNA that are part of the promoter—this is the part of the DNA that gets activated to start the synthesis process.
In his presentation, Dr. Blank explains that the red rectangles are particular configurations of bases (CT-CT). They found that the section known as the EMF domain (shown here as the large red rectangle), controls the response to EMF's. And, by changing that part of the DNA, they were able to effectively eliminate the EMF response.

In short, when you charge a molecule, you can cause that molecule to break apart. For example, researchers have shown that a hemoglobin molecule can be made to break apart by increasing the charge on the molecule.
The reason why the DNA molecule can be made to break apart even though the radiation is non-ionizing is because of the electrical conductivity inside the DNA molecule, i.e. the electrons present in the DNA bases can be made to move. And, EMF's have been shown to cause electron transfer in the DNA.So, the idea that non-ionizing radiation cannot create a biological effect has been shown to be completely inaccurate.
Health Hazards Linked to Cell Phone Use
Scientists have found that microwaves transmitted by cell phones and other wireless devices can:
* Harm your blood cells
* Damage your DNA
* Cause nerve-cell damage
* Possibly accelerate and contribute to onset of autism, and trigger Alzheimer’s disease
* Damage your eyes
* Cause sleep disruptions, fatigue and headaches
* Contribute to salivary gland tumors
* Cause decreased bone density in the pelvic region
* Lead to electromagnetic hypersensitivity
* Affect your heart rate and blood pressure
Cell Phones and Brain Cancer
There's also a strong link between EMF exposure and cancer. A review of 11 long-term epidemiologic studies published in the journal Surgical Neurology two years ago revealed that using a cell phone for 10 or more years approximately doubles the risk of being diagnosed with a brain tumor on the same side of the head where the cell phone is typically held.
Professor Mild, lead researcher of that particular study, also cautioned that the danger may be even greater than what they found because cancers need a minimum of 10 years to develop. Since children today are using cell phones at an earlier age than any previous generation, their exposure will be far greater over their lifetimes. Because children have thinner skulls than adults, and their nervous systems are still developing, children are particularly vulnerable to this type of tumor and should not use cell phones at all.
Australia has seen an increase in pediatric brain cancers of 21 percent in just one decade. This is consistent with studies showing a 40 percent brain tumor increase across the board in Europe and the U.K. over the last 20 years.
Brain cancer has now surpassed leukemia as the number one cancer killer in children.The BioInitiative Report also includes studies showing evidence for exposure to electromagnetic fields brain tumors, acoustic neuromas, and childhood cancers like leukemia.
Steps You Can Take to Protect Yourself and Your Family
In the end, all the evidence points to the fact that our current safety standards are completely inadequate. Our rapidly expanding wireless technologies must be properly evaluated, first of all, and the precautionary principle must be invoked when new technologies emerge. While you can't completely avoid radiation in today's wireless world, if you're ready to give up your cell phone, you can virtually eliminate that one hazard, at least.
If you're not prepared to take that step, you can minimize your exposure by heeding the following advice:
Children Should Never Use Cell Phones: Barring a life-threatening emergency, children should not use a cell phone, or a wireless device of any type. Children are far more vulnerable to cell phone radiation than adults, because of their thinner skull bones.
Reduce Your Cell Phone Use: Turn your cell phone off more often. Reserve it for emergencies or important matters. As long as your cell phone is on, it emits radiation intermittently, even when you are not actually making a call.
Use a Land Line at Home and at Work: Although more and more people are switching to using cell phones as their exclusive phone contact, it is a dangerous trend and you can choose to opt out of the madness.
Reduce or Eliminate Your Use of Other Wireless Devices: You would be wise to cut down your use of these devices. Just as with cell phones, it is important to ask yourself whether or not you really need to use them every single time.
If you must use a portable home phone, use the older kind that operates at 900 MHz. They are no safer during calls, but at least many of them do not broadcast constantly even when no call is being made.
Note the only way to truly be sure if there is an exposure from your cordless phone is to measure with an electrosmog meter, and it must be one that goes up to the frequency of your portable phone (so old meters wont help much). As many portable phones are 5.8 Gigahertz, we recommend you look for RF meters that go up to 8 Gigahertz, the highest range now available in a meter suitable for consumers.
Alternatively you can be very careful with the base station placement as that causes the bulk of the problem since it transmits signals 24/7, even when you aren't talking. So if you can keep the base station at least three rooms away from where you spend most of your time, and especially your bedroom, they may not be as damaging to your health.
Ideally it would be helpful to turn off your base station every night before you go to bed.
You can find RF meters at www.emfsafetystore.com. But you can pretty much be sure your portable phone is a problem if the technology is DECT, or digitally enhanced cordless technology.
Use Your Cell Phone Only Where Reception is Good: The weaker the reception, the more power your phone must use to transmit, and the more power it uses, the more radiation it emits, and the deeper the dangerous radio waves penetrate into your body. Ideally, you should only use your phone with full bars and good reception.
Also seek to avoid carrying your phone on your body as that merely maximizes any potential exposure. Ideally put it in your purse or carrying bag. Placing a cell phone in a shirt pocket over the heart is asking for trouble, as is placing it in a man's pocket if he seeks to preserve his fertility.
Don't Assume One Cell Phone is Safer Than Another. There's no such thing as a "safe" cell phone.
Keep Your Cell Phone Away From Your Body When it is On: The most dangerous place to be, in terms of radiation exposure, is within about six inches of the emitting antenna. You do not want any part of your body within that area.
Respect Others Who are More Sensitive: Some people who have become sensitive can feel the effects of others' cell phones in the same room, even when it is on but not being used.
If you are in a meeting, on public transportation, in a courtroom or other public places, such as a doctor's office, keep your cell phone turned off out of consideration for the 'second hand radiation' effects. Children are also more vulnerable, so please avoid using your cell phone near children.
Use Safer Headset Technology: Wired headsets will certainly allow you to keep the cell phone farther away from your body. However, if a wired headset is not well-shielded -- and most of them are not -- the wire itself acts as an antenna attracting ambient information carrying radio waves and transmitting radiation directly to your brain.
Make sure that the wire used to transmit the signal to your ear is shielded.
The best kind of headset to use is a combination shielded wire and air-tube headset. These operate like a stethoscope, transmitting the information to your head as an actual sound wave; although there are wires that still must be shielded, there is no wire that goes all the way up to your head.
As Dr. Blank says, we all have to live with risk, but unless we're willing to give up the conveniences these technologies provide, we must at least make accommodations to minimize the inherent risks.
You're bathed in a wide range of frequencies every day, so please, at least take the above precautions to reduce your risk, and the risk to your children, who are even more vulnerable to long-term damage.
Dr. Blank ended his remarks emphasizing people must get involved in raising awareness. "And probably the most important part is the public education campaign. That is, people must be made aware of this issue. They must realize that even though they cannot see EMF or feel it, it's having its effect and that these effects are cumulative, many are slow-acting, and that you really can't beat it."
Let's all do our part to educate others, and especially those in government responsible for setting exposure guidelines.

What You Must Know About Diabetes in Order to Successfully Treat it
Type 2 diabetes is a disease caused by insulin resistance and faulty leptin signaling, both of which are regulated through your diet.
Until that concept becomes well-known in both the medical community and by the public at large, the misconception about what diabetes is and the appropriate way to treat it will continue to be promoted and people will continue dying prematurely.
Conventional treatment, which is focused on fixing the symptom of elevated blood sugar rather than addressing the underlying disease, is doomed to fail in most cases.
Why?
Because most treatments for type 2 diabetes utilize drugs that either raise insulin, or lower blood sugar. Avandia, for example, lowers your blood sugar levels by increasing the sensitivity of liver, fat and muscle cells to insulin.
As I will explain below, this in no way addresses your underlying problem, which is metabolic miscommunication.
Let me assure you, the cure for type 2 diabetes has NOTHING to do with giving insulin. Giving someone with type 2 diabetes insulin is one of the WORST things that can be done. Any physician doing this simply does not understand insulin physiology.
Leptin is a Major Key to Successful Treatment of Diabetes
The hormone leptin is largely responsible for the accuracy of insulin signaling and whether you become insulin resistant or not.
Leptin, a relatively recently discovered hormone produced by fat, tells your body and brain how much energy it has, whether it needs more (saying "be hungry"), whether it should get rid of some (and stop being hungry) and importantly what to do with the energy it has (reproduce, upregulate cellular repair, or not).
In fact, the two most important organs that may determine whether you become (type 2, insulin resistant) diabetic or not are your liver and your brain, and it is their ability to listen to leptin that will determine this.
When your blood sugar becomes elevated it is a signal for insulin to be released to direct the extra energy into storage. A small amount is stored as a starch called glycogen in your body, but the majority is stored as your main energy supply -- fat. Thus, in this regard insulin's major role is not to lower sugar, but to take the extra energy and store it for future times of need.
Insulin lowers your blood sugar as a side effect of directing the extra energy into storage.
This is why treatments that concentrate merely on lowering blood sugar for diabetes while raising insulin levels can actually worsen rather than remedy the actual problem of metabolic miscommunication.
Taking insulin is one of the WORST things you can do, as it will actually make your insulin and leptin resistance worse over time. And taking diabetic drugs like Avandia may send you into an early grave from a heart attack or heart failure.
Fortunately, the safest treatment alternatives are also the most successful!
Fructose – One of the Major Culprits for Both Diabetes and Obesity
Before I delve into the other treatment strategies, I want to emphasize the importance of avoiding fructose if you want to successfully address your diabetes, or avoid it in the first place.
It’s important to understand that your body metabolizes fructose differently from glucose (regular table sugar is a disaccharide and 50 percent glucose and 50 percent fructose), and these differences lead to serious health consequences.
For example, fructose does not stimulate a rise in leptin, so your satiety signals are diminished. It also reduces the amount of leptin crossing your blood-brain barrier by raising triglycerides. And whereas glucose suppresses ghrelin (the hunger hormone, which makes you want more food), fructose does not.
Fructose also increases your insulin levels, interfering with the communication between leptin and your hypothalamus, so your pleasure signals aren’t extinguished. Your brain senses starvation and prompts you to eat more.
All of this also sets the stage for over indulgence and hence overweight, and puts you on the path toward both obesity and diabetes.
I strongly advise keeping your fructose consumption below 25 grams per day.
However, it would be wise for most people to limit fruit fructose to 15 grams or less as it is virtually guaranteed that you will be getting “hidden” sources of fructose from just about any processed food you eat.
This includes fruits, which also need to be carefully measured to make certain that you’re not inadvertently consuming too much fructose.
Keep in mind that most processed food is loaded with fructose and is best avoided entirely. For instance, there are about 40 grams of HFCS per can of soda.
Clearly, eliminating excess fructose from your diet is FAR safer and MORE effective than taking a drug like Avandia if you have diabetes. However, virtually no doctor will inform you of this, as there aren’t billions of dollars worth of drug company marketing muscles behind this sort of recommendation.
Most Diabetes Cases Can Be Cured Without Drugs!
Please understand that nearly 100 percent of type 2 diabetics can be successfully treated -- meaning you will no longer have the symptoms of diabetes, or the high risk of developing health complications -- if you are willing to implement a few healthy lifestyle changes.
Diabetes runs in my family. About fifteen years ago, I diagnosed my father with it and gave him these guidelines to follow. He's 81 years old and does two hours of exercise every single morning. Recently he's added strength training. He's been able to keep his diabetes under control without taking a single drug by following these principles.
If you follow the recommendations listed below, your likelihood of successfully going off of drugs and having normal blood sugars is close to 100 percent, as treating type 2 diabetes is simply a matter of implementing some basic strategies to improve your insulin and leptin resistance:
1. Exercise
Exercise is an absolutely essential factor, without which you’re highly unlikely to get this devastating disease under control. It is clearly one of the most potent ways to lower your insulin and leptin resistance.
Typically, you’ll need large amounts of exercise, until you get your blood sugar levels under control. You may need up to an hour or two a day. Naturally, you’ll want to gradually work your way up to that amount, based on your current level of fitness.

2. Eliminate Grains and Sugars
For the last 50 years, many people have been following the nutritional recommendations dictated by conventional health agencies, which advise a high complex carbohydrate, low saturated fat diet. The end result has been a 700 percent increase in diabetes in the same time frame, and many have come to view diabetes as an incurable chronic disease…
This is clearly not true, but the inevitable result of seriously flawed dietary recommendations. Instead, you’ll want to eliminate foods that your body will react to by creating insulin, which includes ALL types of sugars and grains -- even “healthy” grains such as whole, organic grains. This means avoiding all breads, pasta, cereals, rice, potatoes, and corn (which is in fact a grain). You may even need to avoid fruits until your blood sugar is under control.
3. Eat Right for Your Nutritional Type
Exercising and avoiding grains and sugars might not be enough unless you balance your protein, carb and fat ratios for your unique and specific genetic biochemistry. You can read more about nutritional typing here.
4. Monitor Your Fasting Insulin Level
This is every bit as important as your fasting blood sugar. You’ll want your fasting insulin level to be between 2 to 4. The higher your level, the worse your insulin receptor sensitivity is.
The recommendations mentioned above are the key steps you need to achieve this reduction.
5. Optimize Your Vitamin D Level
Interestingly, optimizing your vitamin D levels can not only help improve type 2 diabetes if you have it, but can likely eliminate the risk of type 1 diabetes in your children if you are pregnant. It’s also vital for infants to receive the appropriate amounts of vitamin D in their early years for these same reasons.
Ideally, you’ll want to do this by exposing a large amount of your skin to appropriate amounts of sunshine (or a safe tanning bed) on a regular basis, year-round. Your body can safely create up to 20,000 units of vitamin D a day this way.
However, if neither of these options are available, you may want to use an oral vitamin D3 supplement. But remember, if you choose to take an oral supplement it’s essential that you get your levels tested regularly by a proficient lab to make sure you’re not reaching toxic levels, and are within the therapeutic range. Maintaining your vitamin D levels around 60-80 ng/ml can significantly help control your blood sugar.

The Hazards of Sugar
Scientists have proved for the first time that fructose, a cheap form of sugar used in thousands of food products and soft drinks, can damage human metabolism and is fueling the obesity crisis.
Fructose, a sweetener usually derived from corn, can cause dangerous growths of fat cells around vital organs and is able to trigger the early stages of diabetes and heart disease.
Over 10 weeks, 16 volunteers on a controlled diet including high levels of fructose produced new fat cells around their heart, liver and other digestive organs. They also showed signs of food-processing abnormalities linked to diabetes and heart disease. Another group of volunteers on the same diet, but with glucose sugar replacing fructose, did not have these problems.

A Calorie is Not a Calorie
Glucose is the form of energy you were designed to run on. Every cell in your body, every bacterium -- and in fact, every living thing on the Earth--uses glucose for energy.
If you received your fructose only from vegetables and fruits (where it originates) as most people did a century ago, you’d consume about 15 grams per day -- a far cry from the 73 grams per day the typical adolescent gets from sweetened drinks. In vegetables and fruits, it’s mixed in with fiber, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and beneficial phytonutrients, all which moderate any negative metabolic effects.
It isn’t that fructose itself is bad -- it is the MASSIVE DOSES you’re exposed to that make it dangerous.
There are two reasons fructose is so damaging:
1. Your body metabolizes fructose in a much different way than glucose. The entire burden of metabolizing fructose falls on your liver.
2. People are consuming fructose in enormous quantities, which has made the negative effects much more profound.
Today, 55 percent of sweeteners used in food and beverage manufacturing are made from corn, and the number one source of calories in America is soda, in the form of HFCS.
Food and beverage manufacturers began switching their sweeteners from sucrose (table sugar) to corn syrup in the 1970s when they discovered that HFCS was not only far cheaper to make, it’s about 20% sweeter than table sugar.
HFCS is either 42% or 55% fructose, and sucrose is 50% fructose, so it's really a wash in terms of sweetness. Still, this switch drastically altered the average American diet.
By USDA estimates, about one-quarter of the calories consumed by the average American is in the form of added sugars, and most of that is HFCS. The average Westerner consumes a staggering 142 pounds a year of sugar! And the very products most people rely on to lose weight -- the low-fat diet foods -- are often the ones highest in fructose.
Making matters worse, all of the fiber has been removed from these processed foods, so there is essentially no nutritive value at all.
Fructose Metabolism Basics
Without getting into the very complex biochemistry of carbohydrate metabolism, it is important to understand some differences about how your body handles glucose versus fructose. I will be publishing a major article about this in the next couple of months, which will get much more into the details, but for our purpose here, I will just summarize the main points.
Dr. Robert Lustig[i] Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco, has been a pioneer in decoding sugar metabolism. His work has highlighted some major differences in how different sugars are broken down and used:
* After eating fructose, 100 percent of the metabolic burden rests on your liver. But with glucose, your liver has to break down only 20 percent.
* Every cell in your body, including your brain, utilizes glucose. Therefore, much of it is “burned up” immediately after you consume it. By contrast, fructose is turned into free fatty acids (FFAs), VLDL (the damaging form of cholesterol), and triglycerides, which get stored as fat.
* The fatty acids created during fructose metabolism accumulate as fat droplets in your liver and skeletal muscle tissues, causing insulin resistance and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Insulin resistance progresses to metabolic syndrome and type II diabetes.
* Fructose is the most lipophilic carbohydrate. In other words, fructose converts to activated glycerol (g-3-p), which is directly used to turn FFAs into triglycerides. The more g-3-p you have, the more fat you store. Glucose does not do this.
* When you eat 120 calories of glucose, less than one calorie is stored as fat. 120 calories of fructose results in 40 calories being stored as fat. Consuming fructose is essentially consuming fat!
* The metabolism of fructose by your liver creates a long list of waste products and toxins, including a large amount of uric acid, which drives up blood pressure and causes gout.
* Glucose suppresses the hunger hormone ghrelin and stimulates leptin, which suppresses your appetite. Fructose has no effect on ghrelin and interferes with your brain’s communication with leptin, resulting in overeating.
If anyone tries to tell you “sugar is sugar,” they are way behind the times. As you can see, there are major differences in how your body processes each one.
The bottom line is: fructose leads to increased belly fat, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome -- not to mention the long list of chronic diseases that directly result.
Panic in the Corn Fields
As the truth comes out about HFCS, the Corn Refiners Association is scrambling to convince you that their product is equal to table sugar, that it is “natural” and safe.
Of course, many things are “natural” -- cocaine is natural, but you wouldn’t want to use 142 pounds of it each year.
The food and beverage industry doesn’t want you to realize how truly pervasive HFCS is in your diet -- not just from soft drinks and juices, but also in salad dressings and condiments and virtually every processed food. The introduction of HFCS into the Western diet in 1975 has been a multi-billion dollar boon for the corn industry.
The FDA classifies fructose as GRAS: Generally Regarded As Safe. Which pretty much means nothing and is based on nothing.
There is plenty of data showing that fructose is not safe -- but the effects on the nation’s health have not been immediate. That is why we are just now realizing the effects of the last three decades of nutritional misinformation.
As if the negative metabolic effects are not enough, there are other issues with fructose that disprove its safety:
* More than one study has detected unsafe mercury levels in HFCS[ii].
* Crystalline fructose (a super-potent form of fructose the food and beverage industry is now using) may contain arsenic, lead, chloride and heavy metals.
* Nearly all corn syrup is made from genetically modified corn, which comes with its own set of risks.
The FDA isn’t going to touch sugar, so it’s up to you to be proactive about your own dietary choices.
What’s a Sugarholic to Do?
Ideally, I recommend that you avoid as much sugar as possible. This is especially important if you are overweight or have diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure.
I also realize we don’t live in a perfect world, and following rigid dietary guidelines is not always practical or even possible.
If you want to use a sweetener occasionally, this is what I recommend:
1. Use the herb stevia.
2. Use organic cane sugar in moderation.
3. Use organic raw honey in moderation.
4. Avoid ALL artificial sweeteners, which can damage your health even more quickly than fructose.
5. Avoid agave syrup since it is a highly processed sap that is almost all fructose. Your blood sugar will spike just as it would if you were consuming regular sugar or HFCS. Agave’s meteoric rise in popularity is due to a great marketing campaign, but any health benefits present in the original agave plant are processed out.
6. Avoid so-called energy drinks and sports drinks because they are loaded with sugar, sodium and chemical additives. Rehydrating with pure, fresh water is a better choice.

Start off by clicking US Patent Application Info Retrieval . Type in the verification code and when you get to the search page make sure "Application number" is checked off and in the search field fill in the application number as: 60/966,724
When it opens the page, Click on the Tab "Image File Wrapper" then select "Specifications" and go to page "13" of the specifications. Here you will see the virus references to the H1N1 viruses as noted above and it did so on 28 August 2007, long before the virus was promoted as a "New and Deadly Strain" morphed out of a pig farm in Mexico end of April 2009.

Swine Flu - H1N1 - INDIA FOCUS | PROTECT YOURSELF with just 25 Rupees!
The H1N1 virus seems to strike Indian doctors, pharmacists, poor or rich including NRIs, from a 4-yr to 80-yr old !
Lets cut to the chase !
The Best Defense costs next to nothing! Especially in India, a measly 25 Rupees can provide you year round protection! And its readily available in most hospitals! Yet you wont hear about it much. Do you really expect Mainstream Media or Big Pharma to tell you? Ethics will eventually win though. How many more lives have to be lost till then?
This post covers 4 main issues:

2) H1N1 Tests that seem to give far too many FALSE Positive results;
3) The Best Defense for Flu .... and it costs next to nothing;
4) Vaccines that are coming may be more dangerous than the flu itself;
Though this post is India centric, I believe it would equally apply anywhere in the H1N1 stricken world. Here's a brief (bit long but needed) on 'educating and protecting' oneself, children, family and friends:
1) Tamiflu (Oseltamivir), the current drug of choice for prevention and treatment of Swine Flu (H1N1) can have severe SIDE EFFECTS and Adverse reactions, including DEATH.

2) The Tests being used to diagnose H1N1 are giving far too many false POSITIVE results. According to WHO, the new rRT-PCR "rapid" testing method, being used, only provides a "presumptive positive" rather than a "definitive positive" result for H1N1 influenza. Read 'Unreliable Swine Flu Test Leaves Doubt - The Melbourne Age - Those tested 'POSITIVE' for swine flu are being administered Tamiflu and may be in for more serious consequences. So beware!
3) THE BEST DEFENSE FOR SWINE or any flu is to strengthen our Immune System year round. And Vitamin D3 apparently does that! Unlike here in the US where (2000 IU, 5000 IU, 50,000 IU) over-the-counter capsules are available, its not so in India. Luckily, vitamin D3 “Arachitol” (Cholecalciferol) injections in 7.5mg (300,000 IU) and 15 mg (600,000 IU) are available on prescription at most hospitals in India and doses of 100,000–300,000 IU have been administered intramuscularly 6-monthly or once-yearly quite safely.
A single therapeutic annual intramuscular injection of 600,000 IU (15mg) cholecalciferol is currently being used to treat vitamin D deficiency in India and Canada, and its safety has previously been evaluated. Dr. John Jacob Cannell MD states "As I weigh 220 pounds (100 kg), I would take 200,000 IU per day for seven days if I thought I had an infection with a 1918-like influenza virus."
That's 1,400,000 IU or about equivalent to two Injections of Arachitol 15mg (600,000IU). And I believe each injection costs a measly Rs.25/- ! Everyone can easily afford it!
My 25(OH)D test resulted a dangerously low of 12.2 ng/ml on 27th March of this year. Over the following 8 weeks, I consumed a total 2,260,000 IU over 56 days averaging daily to about 40,000 IU ! My subsequent test result (in June) was 239 ng/ml ! Its high when one considers the normal range between 32-100 ng/ml and some may even call this toxic!! Truth is, I have never felt any better than now!
Canada is seriously examining Vitamin D for swine flu protection. Before long, the world will wake up to D3. Can INDIA lead the way? They sure can, if politicians, health care practitioners, pharmaceutical companies and other 'interested' parties place ETHICS before PROFITS.
